V.C. Praveen
Vice Chairman
V.C. Praveen is a prominent business leader and social activist who is the Vice Chairman of Sree Gokulam Group of Companies, a diversified business group with operations in chit funds, finance, hospitality, education, and healthcare sectors.
He hails from Kannur district in Kerala, but he grew up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, where he received his education. He completed his schooling from Asan Memorial Sr. Sec. School and his B.Com from Loyola College in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He also earned an MBA degree. He was active in the Leo movement, a youth wing of Lions Club International, during his college days and won the ‘Best Secretary’ award of Chennai Division comprising of 54 clubs.
He is a member of various business associations and forums. Mr. V.C. Praveen has been elected as the President of the All India Association of Chit Funds, the apex body of the chit fund industry in India. He has been instrumental in bringing reforms and regulations to the sector and enhancing its credibility and transparency.
As the Global President of the World Malayalaee Council, he has been leading the organization with vision and dedication. He has also served as the Global Chairman and General Secretary of the WMC, where he initiated several projects and programs for the welfare of the Malayalaee community. He is a respected and influential figure in the global Malayalaee diaspora.
He is also a generous philanthropist who supports many social causes and initiatives. He has organized and sponsored many events and programs to raise funds for various causes, such as ‘Hridayaragam’ with the support of the Malayalam Film Industry, a pediatric heart surgery camp in 2006 that gave a new lease of life to more than 200 children suffering from heart ailments
He is a committee member of Narayana Mission, Chennai, a charitable organization that provides free education and medical care to the needy.
Mr. V C Praveen is an avid sports enthusiast and football player who generously sponsors sports in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. He is currently the President of Gokulam Kerala FC, a professional football club based in Kozhikode, Kerala
He has been honored with several awards and recognitions for his contributions to the business and social sectors, such as the ‘Business Enabler 2018’ award in the VPN IBE Award 2018 and the Unique Times Excellence for Sports Business Visionary Award for his role in founding Gokulam Kerala FC.
He is a compassionate and humble person who extends help in all possible means to the weaker sections of society in the fields of medicine and education.
